Mahila Samaj

Arya Samaj Chicagoland’s Women’s Society. Meetings are held the second Thursdays of each month at 5:30-7 PM at a different family’s residence. To host a meeting, participate or for additional details, please contact Mohini Bhatia at Mohini.bhatia@aryasamajchicago.com.

Started in 2019, the Mahila Samaj is made up of women of Arya Samaj, their friends and family members. Arya Samaj has a long history of promoting women’s rights and honoring the women as the backbone and central being of the family, community and society. Women are central to the home, often direct or indirect influencers in the household, especially of how children are raised, how elders are treated and how the family spends its time and resources. Strengthening the spiritual core of women of the Arya Samaj has far-reaching positive impacts on the household, family and community. Mahila Samaj members gather on the second Thursday of every month, at a different lady’s residence encouraging the women to invite their family and friends who may not be aware of the teachings of the Arya Samaj. The gathering includes a brief meditation, havan and spiritual discussion on a topic from the Vedas and then opens up for discussion on important events in the home, community and society. Donations are collected to support the continual functioning of the Mahila Samaj.
